Wienhausen

The joint municipality of Flotwedel consists of the individual municipalities of Wienhausen, Langlingen, Eicklingen and Bröckel with a total of 11,000 residents.
The dominating building is the Cistercian convent dating from the early 13th century.
It is a unique building complex of North German redbrick Gothic containing treasures from the 13th to the 16th centuries and surrounded by a romantic, mostly unspoilt park.
Today the convent is a Lutheran-Protestant ladies’ institution and open to the public from April to October. The precious tapestries from the 14th and 15th century are especially worth seeing.
Once a year they are on public display for ten days starting from the Friday after Whitsun. Manors and picturesque villages as well as varied countryside consisting of woods and open fields are ideal for trips.
The Village Museum Langlingen displays graphically rural culture and work. All year round, Wienhausen and its surrounding villages offer a wide variety of special concerts, selected flea and craft markets, entertaining cabaret, interesting exhibitions and culinary delights.
