Tourismus Region Celle GmbH is a local Destination Managment Company and the official Tourist Office of the town of Celle.

With over 500 picturesque half-timbered houses dating from the 16th to the 18th Century, Celle is one of the most enchanting towns in Germany and is often compared to the historic town of Rothenburg in Bavaria.

The area surrounding Celle is called the Lueneburg Heath. This is one of Germany's most unique landscapes and is Europe's largest expanse of heather covered moorland. Here, one can still see flocks of local sheep (called Heidschnucke) and shepards with their working dogs. Another unique and intrinsic symbol of the heath are its bees. Bee keeping is popular in the regioni with traditional bee hives and bee keepers seen throughout the area.

The accommodation database features a wide range of places to stay for every kind of budget or type of travel. This includes historic inns, deluxe hotels, apartments, Bed & Breakfasts and convention hotels.

Cultural sites can be found in numerous museums, churches, convents and castles. Celle is the location of Northern Germany's oldest Synagogue and oldest Baroque theater. The ducal palace in town dates back to 1290 and invites you to its historical English guided tours.

Farmers markets that offer local produce and arts and crafts take place every week in the historic town center. Every December, Celle's enchanting Christmas market attracts visitors from both near and far.

On a more somber note, nearby Bergen-Belsen Memorial is located on the grounds of the former P.O.W. (Prisoner of War) and concentration camp, where its documentation centre illustrates the history of the camp and its victims.

Sports enthusiasts can find several golf courses, as well as hundreds of miles of flat hiking and biking trails. Horse lovers will enjoy the world renown Hanoverian Stallion Stud Farm with it's annual parade in September, which attracts visitors from all over the world.
