Müden (Örtze) / Faßberg

Müden on the Örtze is regarded as the most beautiful village in the South Heath, as it has preserved its charm as a genuine Heath village to the present day.
Century-old farmyards situated under ancient oak trees evoke an impressive village atmosphere.
The centre of the village is St. Lawrence Church with a wooden belltower so typical of churches in the Heath.
The “Historical watermill” which was restored in 1997 houses the tourist information office, the local library as well as conference and exhibition rooms and a wedding room.
In the vicinity of Müden on the Örtze you are still able to experience the unspoilt Heath landscape which is being tended by two herds of moorland sheep: the Wietzer Berg with the Löns Memorial Stone, the Haußelberg, the juniper wood near Schmarbeck and the heathland around the “Infusorial Earth Trail”.
Genuine nature recreation is offered by the varied landscape of the Nature Park South Heath. It is not only the ideal location for bicycle tours and walking, but also for many other leisure activities such as environmental friendly canoe trips on the Örtze, sailing, paddling and fishing on the “Heidesee”.
